After the State of Disaster was lifted in South Africa, a new regulation had to be introduced in order to facilitate the continuation of the SRD grant that government had been providing under the Social Relief of Distress (SRD).

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa), which oversees applications for the R350 SRD grant expressed how pleased they were, having concluding the process of the new regulation.

The regulation had to be in line with the Social Assistance legislation, said Sassa CEO Totsie Memela.
