Gheybate Movajah (فیلم غیبت موجه) is a socially charged Iranian drama directed and produced by Abbas Rafiee. The film finally reached audiences after years of censorship and delays, premiering in Iranian cinemas in the summer of 2025 and later becoming available online through the FilmNet platform.

The story centers on a woman whose unconventional relationship leads her into the heart of a boys’ school. Her presence disrupts the rigid structure of the institution, sparking tension among the school’s administration, teachers, and students. As she becomes more deeply involved with the school’s director, headmaster, and staff, long-buried secrets and ethical dilemmas begin to surface.

What initially appears to be a personal search for someone absent slowly transforms into a journey of self-discovery. The film draws on themes of mysticism and self-realization, evoking symbolic motifs from classical Persian literature, such as the allegory of the Simorgh — a mythical bird representing spiritual awakening.

Featuring strong performances by veteran Iranian actors Abolfazl Pourarab and Mitra Hajar, Gheybat Mowajeh blends suspense, social commentary, and spiritual reflection into a layered narrative. It is a compelling examination of loss, identity, and the blurred lines between physical and emotional presence.
