Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A four-year Degree (NQF Level 8) in:
  • Natural Sciences
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Or a related qualification
• Six years post-qualification experience in a relevant field
• Knowledge of:
  • United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
  • Paris Agreement transparency framework
  • MRV Framework (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification)
  • Climate change policies and programmes
  • International climate reporting requirements
  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Facilitate South Africa’s international climate reporting obligations under the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement
• Provide technical expertise on the enhanced transparency framework.
• Manage climate change monitoring, reporting, and verification processes
• Support implementation and closure of transparency capacity-building projects
• Monitor funding and expenditure for climate-related programmes
• Coordinate environmental reporting and policy implementation
