Set in a remote Iranian village, the story centers on Yousef, a dedicated veterinarian who spends his days tending to livestock and his nights defending them from wolves. One night, during an attack, Yousef is severely burned while protecting the animals. As he recovers, he becomes involved in a community crisis when the young daughter of his friend Khalil goes missing. The village unites in a desperate search for the girl, but rising tensions and long-buried secrets begin to emerge.
During his nightly wolf hunts, Yousef meets Rana, a woman tasked with controlling the wolf population. Their encounter proves transformative, touching on themes of duty, sorrow, and unexpected emotional connection.
Featuring powerful performances from Amin Hayai as Yousef and Ladan Mostofi as Rana, Barfe Akhar blends stark natural landscapes with psychological depth, making it one of the most talked-about films at the Fajr Festival.
