Bi Saro Seda (فیلم ایرانی بی سر و صدا) is a powerful social-drama directed and produced by Majid-Reza Mostafavi, co-written with Mahyar Hamidian. The film weaves together the quiet suffering of its characters with the broader turbulence of Iranian society. Siamak (Peyman Maadi), a humble, honest man, lives under a cloud of deceit and exploitation: he is surrounded by hypocritical, dishonest people who take advantage of his simplicity. His marriage to Mojgan (Hanieh Tavasoli) is strained by the sense that his good nature makes him vulnerable, even powerless in the face of corruption.

Parallel to Siamak’s story, a young tightrope walker, Leila (Fereshteh Hosseini), is forced to abandon her performance career due to threats from fanatics. She now works as a clown in her father’s old circus. Her life intersects with that of Samir (Mohammad Shakeri), a teenage boy who falls deeply in love with her and drifts through the circus instead of going to school. Meanwhile, Siamak’s son and his father uncover dark secrets when Siamak, now a foreman at a donkey farm, realizes animals are going missing — leading him to unmask deep corruption.

The film explores themes of dignity, injustice, and silent resistance. In Hard Shell, there is a haunting beauty to characters who suffer in silence, and a stark realism about economic and social decay. Through poetic visuals and metaphor, the film shows how silence itself can be a powerful force — both shield and prison.
