Tehran 57
Tehran 57 (فیلم طهران ۵۷) is a nostalgic Iranian comedy-fantasy directed by Iman Yazdi that combines political satire, absurd humor, and a retro atmosphere in a story set during the final years before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The film follows Khosro, an ordinary man whose life changes after he becomes involved in an unusual business venture connected to a group of eccentric foreign visitors arriving in Tehran. Rumors begin to spread that a young Donald Trump plans to build a luxury casino in northern Iran, attracting opportunists, dreamers, and hustlers into a chaotic series of events filled with misunderstandings and comic adventures.
The movie recreates the atmosphere of old Tehran through colorful costumes, lively music, and references to Iranian popular culture from the 1970s. Performances by actors Ahmad Mehranfar, Pejman Jamshidi, and Hamed Ahangi bring energy and humor to the fast-moving story. Blending fantasy with social commentary, the film presents an imaginative alternative version of history while exploring themes such as ambition, greed, friendship, and the clash between traditional Iranian society and Western influence. “Tehran 57” offers an entertaining cinematic experience driven by nostalgia, satire, and exaggerated comedic situations.
